Captivating Cake Or Interesting Ice Cream

As it is the school holidays Ura Manuka set some learning challenges for the holidays so that our learning does not go backwards over the holidays. For the activity, I have just completed I had to decide whether I would rather never eat cake again or never eat ice cream again and then explain my reasoning. I decided I would rather never eat ice cream again. As the pictures are not mine if you push on the pictures you will find the link of where I got them from. I think I have some really good reasons for my opinion.

Would you rather never eat cake again or never eat ice cream again? Please comment below if you can make up your mind!

Perfect Pizzas

For the school holidays, I have been set some activities to do. For this activity, I had to make 3 maths questions and all of their answers had to be 100 pizzas. Instead of making lots of really easy questions I gave myself a little challenge with my questions. I  think I have made some challenging questions.  Here are my questions:

Do you enjoy maths? Do you like homework? Please comment below if you could have figured those out without the answers!

Radiant Rainbow Burgers

For the spring holidays, Ura Manuka made a set of homework activities to do over the holidays. One of the activities was " Invent a new food and make an advertisement for it." I decided to try and do this one. I have invented a rainbow burger where all the ingredients are rainbow. I think I have made my advertisement really attractive. I made the picture of my burger out of lots of other images from the internet. Here is my advertisement:

Do you like burgers? Have you done any of the spring learning challenges? If so please comment below. I appreciate your feedback!

Kids For The Vote!

This term in writing we have been working on persuasive writing. We have made multiple pieces of persuasive writing over the term. One of the topics we had to write about is why kids in Nz should be able to vote. We were allowed to choose whether we wanted to do for or against. Here is m persuasive writing:

Have you ever wished that you could choose who your boss is? Have you ever wished your say would be considered? Well, today I am going to tell you why kids in NZ should vote.

New Zealand is a democracy and according to Wikipedia a democracy "is a system of government where the citizens exercise their power by voting" and Merriam-Webster defines a citizen as "an inhabitant of a city or town especially one entitled to the rights and privileges of a freeman". And as all citizens are allowed to vote then children should be allowed to vote too.

Secondly, I think that at it is at least slightly ageist because that kids are not allowed to vote as it is inferring that kids are not clever enough or not trustworthy enough even though some adults make really silly decisions.

A survey has shown that 40% of people who can legally vote choose not to vote so if children can vote then it will make up for all the people who do not vote.

Today I have told you how many people vote, why children should vot and much more. I hope you all agree that Kiwichildren should vote.

Do you wish you could vote? Do you agree with my opinion? If so please comment below. I appreciate your feedback.

Innovative Christchurch

This term for inquiry we have been making projects for DigiAwards. At the start of the term, we had a trip around Christchurch to boost our interest. Every year for DigiAwards the organizers choose a different theme for students to work on. This years theme was Innovative Otautahi. In DigiAwards there are four different categories. The four categories are storytelling, commercial, website and open. My buddy Scott and I were in open. We have been making an interactive map with information about different buildings in Christchurch. Please make sure you read the instructions in the top left corner of the map.  To get to the instructions push on the button of the computer with the arrow pointing go to the left and zoom into Christchurch and learn lots more about our beautiful Christchurch. We made our map with Google MyMaps. I think we have done a really good high-quality job with our map. Here it is:
Have you used Google MyMaps before? If you have please comment below. I appreciate your feedback!

On Mondays in literacy, we do book club. In book club we get given activities to do a book wr have read or are reading. This week I tried to summarise the book Fantastic beasts and where to find them in 6 words. We then got to choose a way to present it. I made mine with word art. The 6 words I used were beasts, fantastic, wizards, fiction and informative. Here it is:
I think I have done it to a high standard. Do you like Fantastic Beasts? Have you used word art before? If you have please comment below. I appreciate your feedback.
